World Vineyard Collection Seasonal Releases

Available October 3: 2 Limited Release wines that will be ready before Christmas!

Australian Shiraz/Mourvedre

Australia’s extreme heat and sunshine make for intensely ripe grapes, and Shiraz and Mourvedre respond perfectly to it. The small, thick skinned berries of Shiraz are deep blue-black and high in extract and fl avour. Dense tannins, brisk acidity, and rich colour help Mourvedre contribute structure and density in the blend. The wine has blueberry, blackberry and spice notes, with fi rm tannins and bright fruit to drink well young and to improve very well with age. Enjoy with grilled beef, lamb chops and intense cheeses. Dry, Medium Oak, Medium Body

Ready in 4 weeks. Kit to Go: $89.95 Kit Made on Premises: $143.28 (includes taxes and corks)

German Traminer-Riesling

Germany’s cool, sunny climate and steep slopes produce grapes with highly concentrated flavours, aroma and body. Blending two of the most aromatic white grapes in the world, this wine reveals a combination of fl oral notes and apple crispness with the perfume of lychee, rose petals, and hints of tropical fruits. The smooth fi nish and medium body make this a great wine for sipping. Off-Dry (a little sweet, perfectly balanced) No Oak, Medium Body

Ready in 4 weeks. Kit to Go: $80.95 Kit Made on Premises: $134.28 (includes taxes and corks)

The Annual Limited Edition Tasting Event

Mark your calendars! The Limited Editions will be announced in October, and we are having not one – but two – tasting events!

Winexpert’s Selection Limited Editions feature a limited number of outstanding unique varieties from around the world that are released annually from January through April. These special wines are only available during their month of release and are immensely popular, so pre-registration is required. The wines are exceptionally high quality and consistently win awards. Each year 2 white and 3 red wines are released.

Every year we hold a tasting event featuring the upcoming Limited Edition wines. By law we aren’t allowed to sample our own wines, so for our event we choose commercial wines that are as close to what we will make as possible. And every year, we have customers telling us the wines we make are better than the commercial equivalents!

We weren’t very happy with our tasting event last year. We found the room too crowded, and some people not only didn’t have a chance to taste each wine but also didn’t sample the food. So we went back to the drawing board, and came up with an improved format for this year. We want to thank our wonderful clients for their input and responses to our questions.

We will hold two separate events this year – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19 and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, both at Kelowna Springs Golf Course. There will be a limited number of guests per evening, and seating will be done at tables. Each wine will be presented separately and you will have the opportunity to taste the wine with the appropriate food pairing and make notes before we go on to the next wine. We hope you can make it! This will be a most enjoyable evening, and we’ll give away some great prizes as well. Tickets are $15.00 per person, and will go on sale September 1.

Some Great New Red Wines!

We’re pretty excited about these new wines – four varieties of Selection International wine kits containing grapeskins. The addition of processed grapeskins is an excellent way to improve and enhance body, mouth-feel, tannin and colour. With lower levels of processing, grape skins carry more solids into the finished wine than concentrate/juice alone kits have traditionally had. The process for producing our grapeskins removes most of the short-chain (harsh) tannins, leaving behind the smooth, mouth-filling tannins and fabulous flavour. The wines will drink well almost as soon as they are bottled, and will improve on the same scale as regular Selection International wines – 6-12 months to achieve a high peak of flavour, and improvement for up to three years under good cellaring.

Varieties:

  • Australian Petit Verdot
  • Spanish Tempranillo
  • Sicilian Nero D’Avola
  • Chilean Malbec Shiraz

Kit to Go: $140.95
Kit Made on Premises: $194.28
Each kit comes with 30 bottle labels.
