I’m spoiled!

My husband Jim has absolutely spoiled me for my birthday – and it’s still 10 days away!  I love artwork, and collect Canadian pieces.  I have admired the art of Julia Hargreaves for years – it’s so realistic you think you’re looking at a photograph, but it’s really acrylic on board.  Months ago, Jim contacted Julia and commissioned a piece for my birthday.  He told her I love the quail and baby chicks that have the run of our yard, and I obviously enjoy wine and wine making.  So here is what Julia created!  It’s called Vineyard Chick, and I love it.  See if you can find the spider in the leaves.  To see more of Julia’s work, please visit www.juliahargreaves.com.

A full week, and a long weekend

I’m very thankful today.  Tim Vandergrift, Technical Services Manager for Winexpert visited Wine Central for most of the day on Tuesday.  He was able to suggest a new configuration in our production area to enable better winemaking with less stress on our staff.  It’s exciting!  We’ll be implementing his suggestions over the next few weeks.

Now, it’s time to relax and enjoy the Labour Day Weekend.  All of us at Wine Central are looking forward to 3 days holiday.  I’m going to be playing a couple of games of golf, and cycling tomorrow.  Rod will be working in his garden, finishing trellises.   Maria is going to see Jesse Cooke at Mission Hill tonight, and then the Armstrong fair over the weekend.  Sara is off to a wedding – we hope the weather holds, because it’s outside.  Brittney is camping with her family.

We hope everyone enjoys this long weekend.  We look forward to seeing you at Wine Central next week.
