The Eclipse collection of premium wines is surpassing all our expectations! We’re so excited about these wines. They take the place of our previous Estate wines, come with more juice, and 4 of the red wines have crushed grapes and skins to help produce better tannins. All 10 of the varietals are showing incredible flavours, and excellent mouth feel. What we’re finding amazing is how great they taste right out of the carboy! Just imagine what they’ll taste like at 6, 9 or 12 months of age.

Winexpert, our supplier, continues to strive for excellence as the premier brand in the craft winemaking industry. Last year we saw reformulation and new packaging for the Vintners Reserve and World Vineyard Collection wine kits. Then, the new Eclipse was launched.

Seasonal Releases

French Rosé will return!

Vinas Dona Constanza Vineyard, San Juan, Argentina. This crisp, fruity, slightly off-dry Rosé has received so many positive comments from people who made it last year. It’s the ultimate summertime patio sipper! A beautiful pink colour, it is the perfect accompaniment to fish, chicken, salads or just about any of the lighter dishes we enjoy in summer. It’s also perfect for turkey – so make sure you save some for the fall.

Please reserve your kit by February 15. The kits will be in the store mid-March, so you’ll be able to enjoy French Rosé this summer. We’ll call you when they arrive – you don’t pay until you start the wine.

Twisted Mist: Hard Pink Lemonade and Lime Margarita

This year take your choice of either Hard Pink Lemonade or Lime Margarita. Each kit will produce 23 L of summertime fun. These are definitely a party in a bottle! Great for campouts, sipping around the pool or enjoying on a hot summer day. Twisted Mist beverages are ready to drink as soon as they are bottled.

Thank you to each and every customer of Wine Central. This is the most fun I have ever had working – in fact, you can’t call it work – it’s fun. I have enjoyed making wine with you over the last few years, and am happy to pass Wine Central on to good hands. Cosette will look after Wine Central and each of you just as I have. Rod, Maria, Sara and Brittney will be here, so there won’t be any change in service or quality, and the fun factor will remain. I’ll be involved with Wine Central on an advisory basis over the next year to help Cosette feel comfortable. I know you will enjoy meeting her.

I’m on to my next adventure! Jim and I are building our cottage at Gull Lake, Alberta. We want to be closer to our daughters, who both live in Edmonton and have no intention of leaving. If there are going to be grandchildren, we want to be part of their lives. It’s all about family. I hope my golf game will improve, and Jim and I will do a little travelling. Our home won’t be ready until late fall, so we’ll enjoy the best of another Okanagan summer.
